Getting To Know Me

What better way is there to get to know someone but to learn about their likes & dislikes?

To give you an introduction to my new blog, I'm giving you an inside look (or maybe a refresher course for you longtime readers) into a few of my likes, dislikes, and what my "dream life" would look like.

I've been a violinist for 17 years (since I was 3 years old), and I perform as the concertmistress (1st chair, 1st Violin) in my college's orchestra. I love fashion and beauty: I am the beauty editor of 101 Magazine. I am obsessed with my future career (public relations), I have a full-time fellowship on Capitol Hill as a Press Assistant, and I am the social media manager for my University's newspaper. I'm truly a jack of all trades.

If I had my way, my dream life would be a little like this:

1. I would have a book on the New York Times Best Sellers list. I love to write and I'm in the middle of planning the first fiction novel I've written since 11th grade. I tried non-fiction for a while (writing a memoir), but stopped writing it. Maybe I'll come back to it later when I'm a little further from the situations and have a little more perspective...

2. One day, I'd like to be able to divide my time equally between Washington D.C., New York City, and Los Angeles. I'd love to own a home in all three cities. I believe that if I become a writer, I'd be able to do that easily (Come on, Best Sellers paycheck...!).

3. Okay. This is a fun one. So, if I had my way, I'd have three best friends; Blake Lively, Rob Dyrdek, and Khloe Kardashian.
  • Even though going out and shoppping with Blake Lively might make me second-guess my own attractiveness every once in a while, Blake seems like a super sweet girl. Also, I'm sure she could hook me up with some super cool fashion industry connects, and going to Hollywood events would be super fun.
  • Rob Dyrdek. OH. MY. GOSH. He would be the most fun friend on the PLANET. He's super uninhibited, so I feel like he would encourage me to step outside of my comfort zone (something I SOOO need right now). Also, he's always helping to make his family and friends' dreams come true (like when Chanel wanted to be in Maxim and Drama wanted to have his own line of burritos). Once we were BFFs, I'm sure I could get him to help me start my own clothing line!
  • Khloe Kardashian is so cool. Do I REALLY need to explain why I want to be best friends with her? The youngest Kardashian is level-headed, fun, and a free spirit. She'd be awesome to ask for advice, a great shoulder to cry on, and someone to be crazy with. Also, her fashion sense is amazing. Hopefully, she'd let me raid her closet...
4. I LONG for practical designer accessories. In my opinion, they're the best fashion investment you can make. Although I'm all for practicality, non-practical (outrageous materials and colors) designer accessories are so extravagant to me! I hope that one day I can afford to buy something just because it's beautiful or I like the pattern or color, instead of playing it safe with multi-use, functional, browns and blacks.

5. Before my dream of being on the New York Best Sellers List comes true, I want to work for a few years. I would most like to work in the PR department of my favorite fashion magazine, InStyle. InStyle is so smart, fashion-forward, easy to read, and inspirational. They have the best stylists, the best layouts, and all the best contributors. Love L-o-v-e LOVE InStyle. I'm doing all I can to make living in New York and working at the job of my dreams a reality.

I hope that gave you a little view into who I am, and I hope you decide to drop into Southern Belle Stylista more often!
