Friday Flashback: "Barely Breathing"

Let's face it. Duncan Sheik's "Barely Breathing" was one of the best songs of the 1990s. Period.

The song's melodic, complex chord changes and the singer-songwriter's breathy vocals make for a quintessentially awesome throwback tune.

Sheik hasn't bowed into obscurity like many of his 1990's soft rock peers. He saw major success composing and scoring the Broadway hit Spring Awakening.

His hit song "Barely Breathing" was resurrected this year by its use in an art piece by egotistical installation artist Booth in Lena Dunham's GIRLS.

Sheik talks about his feelings about his 1996 hit's use as "torture art" in the episode in the video below.

No matter how Sheik feels about the song, it will always be a classic to me.

P.S. Duncan Sheik is still hot. Just in case you were wondering...

Do you love the song, or are you tortured by it like Sheik is? Leave a comment below!
